The history and setting of Zamek Kamieniec
Zamek Kamieniec is a medieval stronghold whose surviving sections follow an east–west axis across the hill. The oldest part, the High Castle, dates to the end of the 14th century.
The castle first appears in records in 1348, when it was owned by King Casimir III the Great, according to the castle operator. After 1390, Władysław Jagiełło gave it to Klemens of Moskorzew, who developed the High Castle and other parts of the stronghold.
Today, the grounds include the Castle Museum, a torture-chamber exhibition and a castle ceramics workshop. These give the visit more to see than the stone ruins alone.
How do you get to the castle from Krosno?

From Krosno, drive toward Odrzykoń by Białobrzeska Street and then Kamienieckiego Street. From the Rzeszów direction, take road 991 and turn at Czarnorzeki toward the site.

Parking and the approach to the site
Parking is available by the castle. Allow for an approach on foot once you arrive.
The grounds sit on a rocky hill, and surfaces and stairs can be uneven and steep. A visitor-information page warns that some areas may be difficult for people with mobility limitations; contact the operator before setting out if access is a concern.
A circular nature trail begins and ends by the castle. It is 1.5 km long and takes about 1.5 hours to walk, with five themed information stops, handrails, bridges and benches. The municipality describes the trail as about 10 km from Krosno and beside the castle ruins; the nearby Rezerwat Prządki trails and rock formations offer another outdoor walk.
